Missing piece quest hints:

  1. seek out the caverns below a northern dwarf hold near Luskan. This is where the Burning Snow Adventuring band perished. They had this piece.
  1. known to be in the possession of Ashek of the Zentarim located along the Dragonwall in the Citadel of the Raven northern hold.
  1. - held by an nothern Orcan King who’s tribe frequents the area known as the Battle of the Bones. This piece was lost in the Battle of the Bones and found by the Orcs.
  1. - Thought to be in possession of a Lich-King is now believed to be in the regions under an northern Calimshan ruin in SE Amn
  1. - lt is the capital of Calimshan, and the powers that reside there, that it believes to remain.

The Rod of Veskra is a Mystral Staff of power made of 9 segments or rods. Each segment of the Rod has it’s own magic abilities as described below along with location info known by the COB. Zanakin possesses piece #1,3,5,7.

The Rod of Veskra has 9 pieces, and is actually a staff when fully completed
- All pieces of the Rod of Veskra have some type of spell power individually if the command word is known. The spells are cast at a Caster Level of 20. The welders Feat and abilities can increase the Spell Penetration and DC as appropriate. The DC’s given below are forthe Rod pieces only.

Lower Rod:
Base (shuresh): *Zanakin has this piece’ (Delmanton’s Chest)
- Points in the direction of any piece of the Rod if within 200’ of a piece, and if the command word ‘grenshash’ is uttered, the base provides information to the caster of the local it resides per…
- lf a command word ‘shuresh gurinthal’ is spoken, and the name of another piece is uttered, the base will point in the direction of the piece of the Rod if it resides on the same plane, no distance requirements. No other information will be provided 3X Pe€- d AY o r-) LY

    - The last known location for this piece was in the Northlands, north of Waterdeep. lt was brought to the north by long-ago settler leaders from Tethyr.
    - The Piece was identified by a traveling wizard at a mage fair near Luskan some 30 years ago. The piece was old to a low level group of northern adventurers (Burning Snow Adventuring
    Band). These adventurers were lost in the caverns below a northern dwarf hold at that time.

Note: lf the Base through #4 are connected in the proper order (-2.5 feet), they act as a Special Rod of Absorption. This Special Rod of Absorption has no limits on the spell levels it can absorb, but it can hold only 20 spell levels maximum at a time, or charges. lf more than 20 charges will be absorbed on a given spell, partial absorption occurs and the remaining spells levels are divided by the original spell levels to see what fraction gets through (like SpellTurning spell). Each charge can be used to cast a spell that is imbued in the 5 pieces of the Rod used to assemble this portion, or used to cast a spell the wielder has memorized
at a cost of L charge per spell level. To absorb spell levels, the wielder must use
a Ready Acton (this is different than the standard Rod of Absorption).

    - One Kiyron the Brave (powerful Wizard) from Eversult was the last known owner. Kiyron and his allies perished 100 years past near the Battle of the Bones.
    - lt is believed to have been found by humanoids frequenting that area some 40 years ago, and held by some Orcan King in the north.

    - Cast Lightning Bolt (heightened to 5th level, 10d6 damage, Ref DC 17) on command ‘gitfor electronum’, 3 times per day
    - Cast Cone of Cold on command ‘columbin frizek’ ,1 times per day
    - This piece was held by a number of minor wizard kings in
    Tethyr’s early days, and lost to time. It surfaced when found by adventurers in a dungeon expedition in Northern Tethyr, and was identified by seers in Amn some 45 years ago.
    These adventurers travelled to SE Amn to combat a rising undead force, and where never heard from again. This rising undead force was led by an ancient Lich-King, whom was defeated (but not destroyed) some years later. That Lich-King is now believed to be in the regions under an northern Calimshan ruin.
  1. Jeweled Head (wategyu illuminata)
    - Cast Continuol Flame on command ‘opet diotor hugh’, unlimited. This effect affects the rod piece only, and can be deactivated.
    - Cast Globe of lnvulnerability on command ‘frethom magus’, 1 times per day
    - This piece was held by an order of seers in Northern Calimshan for many generations – and known for what it was. This order was sacked by unrest in the city some 150 years ago, and disappeared. Sages remaining rebuilt the site, and tracked the jeweled head to a Rogues guild. The Rogues guild had sold the item to Genie benefactors and brought to the capital of Calimshan.
    lt is the capital of Calimshan, and the powers that reside there, that it believes to remain.

lf #5 through the Head are connected in proper order (-3.5 feet), they act as a Special Rod of Absorption. Fully completed Rod of Veskra:
- The Rod of Veskra acts as a Staff of Power, with +3 luck bonus to AC and +3 luck bonus to Saving Throws (when wielded) with a SR 23, but does not have the Retributive Strike ability. The staff can absorb spells as a Rod of Absorption to recharge up to 50 points if the Ready Action is
used. To absorb spell levels, the wielder must use a Ready Acton (this is different than the standard Rod of Absorption).
- All spells cast from the list of Rod of Veskra spells are CL20 with a DC based on 18 Int. Feats and higher ability scores adjust the DC or SR penetration as appropriate. Spells available:

- The Rod of Veskra may be or used to cast a spell by the wielder has memorized at a cost of 1 charge per spell level.
- The staff does not explode as a Retributive Strike if over 50 points (charges) are absorbed. Rather, it explodes damaging the wielder and all within L0’ for 40d8. Those within 11’ and 20’ take 30d8, and those within 27’ and 30’take 20d8. A Ref save of DC17 reduces damage by
half. The staff is broken into its 9 pieces and each flung in a random area, up to 200’away.
- The staff is not damaged if its charges go to 0.
- As the Staff of the Magi, the wielder does not know the amount of spell charges available (but the caster can figure it out and track it himself by using successful spellcraft checks and little math.
The Rod of Veskra is a +3 quarterstaff (1d6 +3/ 1d6 +3). lf 1 charge is expended as a Free Action, the staff does double damage(x3 critical).
- Detect Magic (Strong, all schools), CL 2oth, Weight 5lb. The fully assembled Rod of Veskra is 6 feet of wood and iron (where the pieces meet to assemble) inscribed with sigils and runes. The sigils and runesalight in various colors when magical effects are used from the Rod.
